the great gatsby a resounding success!

Our first show of the 2025/2026 season was a resounding success. GTG and Trinity Arts welcomed 749 audience members to watch this amazing production. We are so glad we were able to collaborate with Trinity Arts on this production. We are also grateful for the generous support from the City of North Bay’s Centennial Committee which helped make this production possible, along with help from West Ferris Secondary School’s Arts Nipissing Program and Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre. It amazing how the different arts groups in North Bay help and support each other. That is truly what community is about.
Rod Carley guided the outstanding acting ensemble featuring Jesse Beam, Paolo Dottori, Rob Ferron, Ted Harrison, Al MacAskill, Keegan MacNeil, Joanna Miles, Melissa Nigrini, John Powers, Geoff Richardson, Tracy Richardson-Sloan, Jodi St. Pierre, Dawn Wallace, Tristen Watts, & Tania Webb as well as musicians Chris Clarke, Neil Kennedy, Ryan Rogers, and Musical Director Marilyn Sutherland in this engaging and entertaining production.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in this production both on stage and off. The visuals of the set, lighting and costumes brought to life the roaring twenties and a live radio stage of the 1940’s. No small feat!!

auditions for our winter show “rope”

GTG is excited to announce auditions for our next production!
Rope by Patrick Hamilton directed by Josh Bainbridge runs February 18-22, 2026 at ร‰cole Secondaire Publique Odyssรฉe. For the mere sake of adventure, danger, and the โ€œfun of the thing,โ€ Wyndham Brandon persuades his weak-minded friend, Charles Granillo, to assist him in the murder of a fellow undergraduate, a perfectly harmless man named Ronald Raglan. They place the body in a wooden chest, and to add spice to their handiwork, invite a few acquaintances, including the dead youthโ€™s father, to a party, the chest with its gruesome contents serving as a supper table. The horror and tension are worked up gradually; thunder grows outside, the guests leave, and we see the reactions of the two murderers, watched closely by the suspecting lame poet Rupert Cadell.
Group auditions are taking place on Saturday, November 29th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. To book an audition time, please email Josh at J2productions@live.ca
The cast includes roles for 6 males and 2 females of various ages.

new and local

GTG is looking for submissions for our New and Local Performance Works Cultivator! Established in 2022, this initiative looks to support local creation of new works for performance. This new focus will involve (a) workshops designed to assist and inspire the local creation of new works; (b) readings or โ€œshowingsโ€ of new works-in-progress by local writers/creators, and potentially (c) full productions of some of the new works.  The aim of GTG is to hold regular monthly meetings to review submissions and determine which projects GTG has the resources to support.

โ€œNew works for performanceโ€ can include both the writing of โ€œdramatic playsโ€ as well as the creation of what might loosely be called โ€œperformance works.โ€ While โ€œdramatic playsโ€ are generally written texts authored by single writers, โ€œperformance worksโ€ might be created (with spoken text being used to varying degrees, if at all) by either a single author/auteur or by a group working together to devise a new work in many possible formats. The artistic coherence of all new โ€œdramatic playsโ€ and โ€œperformance worksโ€ will be promoted through workshops, readings/showings, and โ€“ in some cases โ€“ production.

This program is open to anyone from our community and we are particularly interested in submissions from youth who have a creative idea they need some extra guidance on.
