“Rope” welcomed audiences to a thrilling evening of suspense and intrigue
Rope directed by Josh Bainbridge was thoroughly enjoyed by our amazing audiences. With rising tensions and gripping twists (punctuated by Nancy Thompson’s charming portrayal of Mrs. Wilson and the astrological skills of Mrs. Atwater, performed by Patsy McVicars), this psychological masterpiece enthralled the audience from start to finish. The production welcomed back a number of Guild regulars but also some friends we hadn’t seen in a while along with new faces both on stage and behind the scenes. We love being a space people came back to or try for the first time all while pursuing something they love. A huge kudos to all involved – a stellar cast on a beautiful set with gorgeous costumes! We are so grateful to everyone who came out and supported the show and to the students from Canadore College’s Acting For Stage and Screen program who helped usher!

our spring show is already in rehearsal!
Our final show of the 2025-2026 season began rehearsals last week. “Trying” by Canadian playwright Joanna McClelland Glass directed by Johanna McPherson is the story of Sarah Schorr who is hired to be the private secretary to Judge Francis Biddle as he navigates the twilight of his very illustrious life. Called “comic and touching” by the New York Times, the play is based on the playwright’s personal experience, and shows us that friendship and connection can transcend age and class when we try. The cast features Rick Blair as Judge Biddle and Lizzi Terry as Sarah. The show runs June 3rd to 7th at Ecole Publique Secondaire Odyssee with our opening night performance again offering pay-what-you-can prices. Tickets can be purchased by following this link https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/gtg-presents-trying-by

new and local
GTG is looking for submissions for our New and Local Performance Works Cultivator! Established in 2022, this initiative looks to support local creation of new works for performance. This new focus will involve (a) workshops designed to assist and inspire the local creation of new works; (b) readings or โshowingsโ of new works-in-progress by local writers/creators, and potentially (c) full productions of some of the new works. The aim of GTG is to hold regular monthly meetings to review submissions and determine which projects GTG has the resources to support.
โNew works for performanceโ can include both the writing of โdramatic playsโ as well as the creation of what might loosely be called โperformance works.โ While โdramatic playsโ are generally written texts authored by single writers, โperformance worksโ might be created (with spoken text being used to varying degrees, if at all) by either a single author/auteur or by a group working together to devise a new work in many possible formats. The artistic coherence of all new โdramatic playsโ and โperformance worksโ will be promoted through workshops, readings/showings, and โ in some cases โ production.
This program is open to anyone from our community and we are particularly interested in submissions from youth who have a creative idea they need some extra guidance on.
